Sermon 6/16/2024: “God’s Plan”

But here’s the thing! We can’t make it happen. We can’t make ourselves righteous.

We tend to associate this sin with sex, but there is no reference to sex other than being naked,.

Jesus came as a judgment of God on Israel, but He did not come to destroy Israel. He came to plant a seed, to show Israel and the world a better way.

The community dimension of our new life in Christ is absolutely necessary. We can’t do it alone.

They all began talking about it to one another, talking among their friends who spoke their native tongues.

God’s kingdom does not come from political manipulation. It comes from gospel reproduction.

So you are not faced with a choice. You, chosen by Jesus, are faced with a command: “These things I command you, so that you will love one another”

It’s easy to say the words. It’s easy to think about the idea. But the real admission of one’s own personal guilt is a hard, personal moment.

The pastor needs to be involved in other community groups, and to minister to people outside of the local church.

Jesus was using Thomas’ experience as a model. How so? First we must understand that the model was not “seeing is believing.”
