We are all to “walk in a manner worthy of God.” Worthy of God!

Holiness is an impossible goal, and is being made more difficult by the media, the government, public education, even some churches. But it is the reason that God sent Jesus to earth. His job is to make people holy.

It wasn’t the reputation of Paul and the apostles that was attracting people to Christ. It was the reputation of the church in Thessalonica.

It’s very difficult to just stop thinking about things, especially problems. So Paul gave us some positive things to think about:

Paul did not become more faithful as a Christian than he had been as a Jew. The degree of his faith did not change. His passion for truth did not change. His commitment to God did not change.

The promise to be righteous is not righteousness

Can an imaginary story convey a worldly truth? Which is more important: the details of a story, or the moral of the story? Is the moral of the story a higher truth?

The Holy Spirit directed these words to all humanity, universally, because these words convey the good news, the evangel, of God, and apply to the whole world.

We are not to think that God holds us in special esteem, because thinking this way feeds our ego.
