Luke 1:26-35, & 45-56  (New American Standard Bible)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

26 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,<\/span> 27 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin\u2019s name was Mary.<\/span> 28 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>And coming in, he said to her, \u201cGreetings, favored one! The Lord is<\/i> with you.\u201d<\/span> 29 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>But she was very perplexed at this<\/i> statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.<\/span> 30 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>The angel said to her, \u201cDo not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.<\/span> 31 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.<\/span> 32 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;<\/span> 33 <\/sup><\/span><\/strong>and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.\u201d<\/span> 34 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>Mary said to the angel, \u201cHow can this be, since I am a virgin?\u201d<\/span> 35 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>The angel answered and said to her, \u201cThe Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

46 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>And Mary said:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cMy soul exalts the Lord,<\/span>
\n47 <\/sup>And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.<\/span>
\n48 <\/sup>\u201cFor He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave;<\/span>
\nFor behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.<\/span>
\n49 <\/sup>\u201cFor the Mighty One has done great things for me;<\/span>
\nAnd holy is His name.<\/span>
\n50 <\/sup>\u201cAnd His mercy is<\/span> upon generation after generation<\/span><\/span>
\nToward those who fear Him<\/span>.<\/span>
\n51 <\/sup>\u201cHe has done mighty deeds with His arm;<\/span>
\nHe has scattered those who were<\/i> proud in the thoughts of their heart.<\/span>
\n52 <\/sup>\u201cHe has brought down rulers from their<\/i> thrones,<\/span>
\nAnd has exalted those who were humble.<\/span>
\n53 <\/sup>\u201cHe has filled the hungry with good things<\/span>;<\/span>
\nAnd sent away the rich empty-handed.<\/span>
\n54 <\/sup>\u201cHe has given help to Israel His servant,<\/span>
\nIn remembrance of His mercy,<\/span>
\n55 <\/sup>As He spoke to our fathers,<\/span>
\nTo Abraham and his descendants forever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

56 <\/span><\/strong><\/sup>And Mary stayed with her about three months, and then<\/i> returned to her home.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
