11 <\/sup>The Lord gave the word; Great was<\/i> the company of those who proclaimed it:<\/i> 12 <\/sup>\u201cKings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home divides the spoil. 13 <\/sup>Though you lie down among the sheepfolds, You will be<\/i> like the wings of a dove covered with silver, And her feathers with yellow gold.\u201d 14 <\/sup>When the Almighty scattered kings in it, It was white<\/i> as snow in Zalmon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 <\/sup>And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.<\/p>\n

Ministers of the New Covenant<\/em><\/h3>\n

3 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? 2 <\/sup>You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. 3 <\/sup>And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.<\/p>\n

4 <\/sup>Such is the confidence that we have through Christ towards God. 5 <\/sup>Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 <\/sup>who has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.<\/p>\n

7 <\/sup>Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8 <\/sup>will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9 <\/sup>For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. 10 <\/sup>Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. 11 <\/sup>For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory.<\/p>\n

12 <\/sup>Since we have such a hope, we are very bold,<\/p>\n
