Selah<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div>\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Mighty gates: lift up your heads!&nbsp;Ancient doors: rise up high!&nbsp;So the glorious king can enter!<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0033\">Matthew 2:1-12 (Common English Bible)<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3><em>Coming of the magi<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>2&nbsp;After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in the territory of Judea during the rule of King Herod, magi came from the east to Jerusalem. <sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>They asked, \u201cWhere is the newborn king of the Jews? We\u2019ve seen his star in the east, and we\u2019ve come to honor him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>When King Herod heard this, he was troubled, and everyone in Jerusalem was troubled with him. <sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>He gathered all the chief priests and the legal experts and asked them where the Christ was to be born. <sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>They said, \u201cIn Bethlehem of Judea, for this is what the prophet wrote:<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup><i>You, Bethlehem, land of Judah,<\/i>&nbsp;<i>by no means are you least among the rulers of Judah,<\/i>&nbsp;<i>because from you will come one who governs,<\/i>&nbsp;<i>who will shepherd my people Israel.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Then Herod secretly called for the magi and found out from them the time when the star had first appeared. <sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>He sent them to Bethlehem, saying, \u201cGo and search carefully for the child. When you\u2019ve found him, report to me so that I too may go and honor him.\u201d <sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>When they heard the king, they went; and look, the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stood over the place where the child was. <sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>When they saw the star, they were filled with joy. <sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>They entered the house and saw the child with Mary his mother. Falling to their knees, they honored him.
