I can tell you to listen, but I can\u2019t make you do something. It\u2019s a bit like commanding love.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Love given in response to a command is not reciprocal love.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When our children were small we would sometimes say, \u201cDid you hear what I said?\u201d It was more of a statement than a question. It means <em>do you understand what I mean?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Similarly, to hear God is not so much a mystical voice as it is an understanding of intent. To hear God is to understand what He means, to understand His Word, the Bible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>John said that God so loved <em>the world,<\/em> defined as the inhabitants of the earth, the human family, the ungodly multitude; the whole mass of people alienated from God, and who are therefore hostile to the cause of Christ.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>God loves both believers and unbelievers.  He loves everyone, but He holds those who love Him in return in a special relationship, a closer relationship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>(This is just a teaser.
