2 Kings 4:1-7\u00a0 (New International Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Widow\u2019s Olive Oil<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

4\u00a0<\/span>The wife of a man from the company\u00a0of the prophets cried out to Elisha, \u201cYour servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the\u00a0Lord<\/span>. But now his creditor\u00a0is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

2\u00a0<\/sup>Elisha replied to her, \u201cHow can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYour servant has nothing there at all,\u201d she said, \u201cexcept a small jar of olive oil.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

3\u00a0<\/sup>Elisha said, \u201cGo around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don\u2019t ask for just a few.<\/span>\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.<\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>When all the jars were full, she said to her son, \u201cBring me another one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But he replied, \u201cThere is not a jar left.\u201d Then the oil stopped flowing.<\/span><\/p>\n

7\u00a0<\/sup>She went and told the man of God,\u00a0and he said, \u201cGo, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
