Giving to the Needy<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

6\u00a0<\/span>\u201cBe careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.\u00a0If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cSo when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.<\/span><\/span>\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup>But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,<\/span><\/span>\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup>so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Prayer<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

5\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cAnd when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing\u00a0in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.<\/span><\/span>\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup>But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father,\u00a0who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fasting<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

16\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhen you fast,\u00a0do not look somber\u00a0as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.<\/span><\/span>\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup>But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,<\/span><\/span>\u00a018\u00a0<\/sup>so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Treasures in Heaven<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

19\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cDo not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,\u00a0where moths and vermin destroy,\u00a0and where thieves break in and steal.<\/span><\/span>\u00a020\u00a0<\/sup>But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,\u00a0where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.<\/span><\/span>\u00a021\u00a0<\/sup>For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
