James 1:22-27  (New International Version)<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

22 <\/sup>Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.<\/span> 23 <\/sup>Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror<\/span> 24 <\/sup>and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.<\/span> 25 <\/sup>But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it\u2014not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it\u2014they will be blessed in what they do.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

26 <\/sup>Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.<\/span>27 <\/sup>Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
