<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosea 2:1-23  (New International Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/span>\u201cSay of your brothers, \u2018My people,\u2019 and of your sisters, \u2018My loved one.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel Punished and Restored<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

2 <\/sup>\u201cRebuke your mother, rebuke her,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>for she is not my wife,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and I am not her husband.<\/span><\/span>
\nLet her remove the adulterous look from her face<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.<\/span><\/span>
\n3 <\/sup>Otherwise I will strip her naked<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and make her as bare as on the day she was born;<\/span><\/span>
\nI will make her like a desert,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>turn her into a parched land,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and slay her with thirst.<\/span><\/span>
\n4 <\/sup>I will not show my love to her children,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>because they are the children of adultery.<\/span><\/span>
\n5 <\/sup>Their mother has been unfaithful<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and has conceived them in disgrace.<\/span><\/span>
\nShe said, \u2018I will go after my lovers,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>who give me my food and my water,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>my wool and my linen, my olive oil and my drink.\u2019<\/span><\/span>
\n6 <\/sup>Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.<\/span><\/span>
\n7 <\/sup>She will chase after her lovers but not catch them;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>she will look for them but not find them.<\/span><\/span>
\nThen she will say,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>\u2018I will go back to my husband as at first,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>for then I was better off than now.\u2019<\/span><\/span>
\n8 <\/sup>She has not acknowledged that I was the one<\/span>
\n    <\/span>who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil,<\/span><\/span>
\nwho lavished on her the silver and gold\u2014<\/span>
\n    <\/span>which they used for Baal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

9 <\/sup>\u201cTherefore I will take away my grain when it ripens,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and my new wine when it is ready.<\/span><\/span>
\nI will take back my wool and my linen,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>intended to cover her naked body.<\/span><\/span>
\n10 <\/sup>So now I will expose her lewdness<\/span>
\n    <\/span>before the eyes of her lovers;<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>no one will take her out of my hands.<\/span><\/span>
\n11 <\/sup>I will stop all her celebrations:<\/span>
\n    <\/span>her yearly festivals, her New Moons,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>her Sabbath days\u2014all her appointed festivals.<\/span><\/span>
\n12 <\/sup>I will ruin her vines and her fig trees,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>which she said were her pay from her lovers;<\/span><\/span>
\nI will make them a thicket,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and wild animals will devour them.<\/span><\/span>
\n13 <\/sup>I will punish her for the days<\/span>
\n    <\/span>she burned incense to the Baals;<\/span><\/span>
\nshe decked herself with rings and jewelry,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and went after her lovers,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>but me she forgot,\u201d<\/span><\/span>
\ndeclares the Lord<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

14 <\/sup>\u201cTherefore I am now going to allure her;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>I will lead her into the wilderness<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and speak tenderly to her.<\/span><\/span>
\n15 <\/sup>There I will give her back her vineyards,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope.<\/span><\/span>
\nThere she will respond as in the days of her youth,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>as in the day she came up out of Egypt.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

16 <\/sup>\u201cIn that day,\u201d declares the Lord<\/span>,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>\u201cyou will call me \u2018my husband\u2019;<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>you will no longer call me \u2018my master.\u2019<\/span><\/span>
\n17 <\/sup>I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>no longer will their names be invoked.<\/span><\/span>
\n18 <\/sup>In that day I will make a covenant for them<\/span>
\n    <\/span>with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the creatures that move along the ground.<\/span><\/span>
\nBow and sword and battle<\/span>
\n    <\/span>I will abolish from the land,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>so that all may lie down in safety.<\/span><\/span>
\n19 <\/sup>I will betroth you to me forever;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>I will betroth you in righteousness and justice,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>in love and compassion.<\/span><\/span>
\n20 <\/sup>I will betroth you in faithfulness,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and you will acknowledge the Lord<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

21 <\/sup>\u201cIn that day I will respond,\u201d<\/span>
\n    <\/span>declares the Lord<\/span>\u2014<\/span><\/span>
\n\u201cI will respond to the skies,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and they will respond to the earth;<\/span><\/span>
\n22 <\/sup>and the earth will respond to the grain,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>the new wine and the olive oil,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and they will respond to Jezreel.<\/span><\/span>
\n23 <\/sup>I will plant her for myself in the land;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>I will show my love to the one I called \u2018Not my loved one.\u2019<\/span><\/span>
\nI will say to those called \u2018Not my people,\u2019 \u2018You are my people\u2019;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and they will say, \u2018You are my God.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
