Exodus 20:1-17  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Ten Commandments<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

20 <\/span>And God spoke all these words, saying,<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/sup>\u201cI am the Lord<\/span> your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall have no other gods before me.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.<\/span> 5 <\/sup>You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord<\/span> your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,<\/span> 6 <\/sup>but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not take the name of the Lord<\/span> your God in vain, for the Lord<\/span>will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

8 <\/sup>\u201cRemember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.<\/span> 9 <\/sup>Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,<\/span> 10 <\/sup>but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord<\/span>your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.<\/span> 11 <\/sup>For in six days the Lord<\/span>made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord<\/span> blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12 <\/sup>\u201cHonor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord<\/span> your God is giving you.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

13 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not murder.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

14 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not commit adultery.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not steal.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

16 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

17 <\/sup>\u201cYou shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Commandment<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 <\/sup>Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard.<\/span> 8 <\/sup>At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.<\/span> 9 <\/sup>Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.<\/span> 10 <\/sup>Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.<\/span> 11 <\/sup>But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nA collection of coins by the children for missions is part of the worship service the last Sunday of every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
