Peter Speaks in Solomon’s Portico<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 <\/sup>While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s.<\/span> 12 <\/sup>And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: \u201cMen of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?<\/span> 13 <\/sup>The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.<\/span> 14 <\/sup>But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,<\/span> 15 <\/sup>and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.<\/span> 16 <\/sup>And his name\u2014by faith in his name\u2014has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

17 <\/sup>\u201cAnd now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.<\/span> 18 <\/sup>But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled.<\/span> 19 <\/sup>Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,<\/span> 20 <\/sup>that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,<\/span> 21 <\/sup>whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Road to Emmaus<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

13 <\/sup>That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem,<\/span> 14 <\/sup>and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.<\/span> 15 <\/sup>While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.<\/span> 16 <\/sup>But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.<\/span> 17 <\/sup>And he said to them, \u201cWhat is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?\u201d<\/span> And they stood still, looking sad.<\/span> 18 <\/sup>Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, \u201cAre you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?\u201d<\/span> 19 <\/sup>And he said to them, \u201cWhat things?\u201d<\/span> And they said to him, \u201cConcerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,<\/span> 20 <\/sup>and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.<\/span> 21 <\/sup>But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.<\/span> 22 <\/sup>Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning,<\/span> 23 <\/sup>and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.<\/span>24 <\/sup>Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.\u201d<\/span> 25 <\/sup>And he said to them, \u201cO foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!<\/span><\/span> 26 <\/sup>Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?\u201d<\/span><\/span> 27 <\/sup>And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
