{"id":3345,"date":"2018-04-13T22:11:32","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T22:11:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stpaulsmarietta.org\/?p=3345"},"modified":"2026-02-28T21:45:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T21:45:31","slug":"worship-april-15-2018-3rd-sunday-of-easter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stpaulsmarietta.org\/?p=3345","title":{"rendered":"Worship &#8211; April 15, 2018 &#8211; 3rd Sunday of Easter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00\"><em><strong>&#8220;Real Vival&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stpaulsmarietta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Road-to-Emmaus.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stpaulsmarietta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Road-to-Emmaus-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3346\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00\"><em><strong>Acts 3:11-21&nbsp; (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><span id=\"en-ESV-26996\" class=\"text Acts-3-11\">Peter Speaks in Solomon&#8217;s Portico<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"text Acts-3-11\"><sup class=\"versenum\">11&nbsp;<\/sup>While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in&nbsp;the portico called Solomon&#8217;s.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-26997\" class=\"text Acts-3-12\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12&nbsp;<\/sup>And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: \u201cMen of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-26998\" class=\"text Acts-3-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13&nbsp;<\/sup>The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,&nbsp;the God of our fathers,&nbsp;glorified his servant&nbsp;Jesus, whom&nbsp;you delivered over and&nbsp;denied in the presence of Pilate,&nbsp;when he had decided to release him.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-26999\" class=\"text Acts-3-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14&nbsp;<\/sup>But you denied&nbsp;the Holy and&nbsp;Righteous One, and&nbsp;asked for a murderer to be granted to you,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-27000\" class=\"text Acts-3-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15&nbsp;<\/sup>and you killed&nbsp;the Author of life,&nbsp;whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-27001\" class=\"text Acts-3-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;his name\u2014by&nbsp;faith in his name\u2014has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is&nbsp;through Jesus&nbsp;has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span id=\"en-ESV-27002\" class=\"text Acts-3-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cAnd now, brothers, I know that&nbsp;you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-27003\" class=\"text Acts-3-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18&nbsp;<\/sup>But what God&nbsp;foretold&nbsp;by the mouth of all the prophets, that&nbsp;his Christ would&nbsp;suffer, he thus fulfilled.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-27004\" class=\"text Acts-3-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19&nbsp;<\/sup>Repent therefore, and&nbsp;turn back, that&nbsp;your sins may be blotted out,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-27005\" class=\"text Acts-3-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20&nbsp;<\/sup>that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ&nbsp;appointed for you, Jesus,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-27006\" class=\"text Acts-3-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21&nbsp;<\/sup>whom heaven must receive until the time for&nbsp;restoring all the things about which&nbsp;God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00\"><em><strong>Luke 24:13-27&nbsp; (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><span id=\"en-ESV-25994\" class=\"text Luke-24-13\">On the Road to Emmaus<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"text Luke-24-13\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13&nbsp;<\/sup>That very day&nbsp;two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles&nbsp;from Jerusalem,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-25995\" class=\"text Luke-24-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14&nbsp;<\/sup>and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-25996\" class=\"text Luke-24-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15&nbsp;<\/sup>While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-25997\" class=\"text Luke-24-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16&nbsp;<\/sup>But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-25998\" class=\"text Luke-24-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to them,&nbsp;<span class=\"woj\">\u201cWhat is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;And they stood still, looking sad.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-25999\" class=\"text Luke-24-18\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18&nbsp;<\/sup>Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, \u201cAre you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-26000\" class=\"text Luke-24-19\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to them,&nbsp;<span class=\"woj\">\u201cWhat things?\u201d<\/span>&nbsp;And they said to him, \u201cConcerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was&nbsp;a prophet&nbsp;mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-26001\" class=\"text Luke-24-20\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20&nbsp;<\/sup>and&nbsp;how our chief priests and&nbsp;rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.<\/span>&nbsp;<span id=\"en-ESV-26002\" class=\"text Luke-24-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21&nbsp;<\/sup>But we had hoped that he was&nbsp;the one to redeem Israel.
