John 8:28-36  (New International Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

28 <\/sup>So Jesus said, \u201cWhen you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.<\/span><\/span> 29 <\/sup>The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.\u201d<\/span><\/span> 30 <\/sup>Even as he spoke, many believed in him.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dispute Over Whose Children Jesus\u2019 Opponents Are<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

31 <\/sup>To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, \u201cIf you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.<\/span><\/span> 32 <\/sup>Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

33 <\/sup>They answered him, \u201cWe are Abraham\u2019s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

34 <\/sup>Jesus replied, \u201cVery truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.<\/span><\/span> 35 <\/sup>Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.<\/span><\/span> 36 <\/sup>So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
