Ephesians 1:15-23  (New International Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thanksgiving and Prayer<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 <\/sup>For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesusand your love for all God\u2019s people,<\/span> 16 <\/sup>I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.<\/span> 17 <\/sup>I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.<\/span> 18 <\/sup>I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,<\/span> 19 <\/sup>and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength<\/span> 20 <\/sup>he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,<\/span> 21 <\/sup>far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.<\/span> 22 <\/sup>And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,<\/span>23 <\/sup>which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nehemiah 8:1-12  (New International Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

8 <\/span>1 <\/sup>all the people came together as one in the square before the Water Gate. They told Ezra the teacher of the Law to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord<\/span> had commanded for Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/sup>So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand.<\/span> 3 <\/sup>He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 <\/sup>Ezra the teacher of the Law stood on a high wooden platform built for the occasion. Beside him on his right stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah and Maaseiah; and on his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah and Meshullam.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 <\/sup>Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up.<\/span>6 <\/sup>Ezra praised the Lord<\/span>, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, \u201cAmen! Amen!\u201d Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord<\/span> with their faces to the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 <\/sup>The Levites\u2014Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah\u2014instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there.<\/span>8 <\/sup>They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9 <\/sup>Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, \u201cThis day is holy to the Lord<\/span> your God. Do not mourn or weep.\u201d For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 <\/sup>Nehemiah said, \u201cGo and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord<\/span> is your strength.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 <\/sup>The Levites calmed all the people, saying, \u201cBe still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12 <\/sup>Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nA collection of coins by the children for missions is part of the worship service the last Sunday of every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
