2 <\/span>And you were dead in the trespasses and sins<\/span> 2 <\/sup>in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience\u2014<\/span> 3 <\/sup>among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.<\/span> 4 <\/sup>But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,<\/span> 5 <\/sup>even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ\u2014by grace you have been saved\u2014<\/span> 6 <\/sup>and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,<\/span> 7 <\/sup>so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.<\/span> 8 <\/sup>For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,<\/span> 9 <\/sup>not a result of works, so that no one may boast.<\/span> 10 <\/sup>For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanksgiving and Prayer<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 <\/sup>We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,<\/span> 4 <\/sup>since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints,<\/span> 5 <\/sup>because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,<\/span> 6 <\/sup>which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing\u2014as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth,<\/span> 7 <\/sup>just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf<\/span> 8 <\/sup>and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9 <\/sup>And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,<\/span> 10 <\/sup>so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;<\/span> 11 <\/sup>being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy;<\/span>12 <\/sup>giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.<\/span> 13 <\/sup>He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,<\/span> 14 <\/sup>in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
