1 Samuel 16:6-12  (English Standard Version)<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

6 <\/sup>When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, \u201cSurely the Lord<\/span>‘s anointed is before him.\u201d<\/span> 7 <\/sup>But the Lord<\/span> said to Samuel, \u201cDo not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord<\/span> sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord<\/span> looks on the heart.\u201d<\/span> 8 <\/sup>Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, \u201cNeither has the Lord<\/span> chosen this one.\u201d<\/span> 9 <\/sup>Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, \u201cNeither has the Lord<\/span> chosen this one.\u201d<\/span> 10 <\/sup>And Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, \u201cThe Lord<\/span> has not chosen these.\u201d<\/span> 11 <\/sup>Then Samuel said to Jesse, \u201cAre all your sons here?\u201d And he said, \u201cThere remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep.\u201d And Samuel said to Jesse, \u201cSend and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.\u201d<\/span> 12 <\/sup>And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord<\/span> said, \u201cArise, anoint him, for this is he.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 Samuel 17:48-51  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

48 <\/sup>When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine.<\/span> 49 <\/sup>And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

50 <\/sup>So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David.<\/span> 51 <\/sup>Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
