The High Priestly Prayer<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

17 <\/span>When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, \u201cFather, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you,<\/span><\/span> 2 <\/sup>since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.<\/span><\/span> 3 <\/sup>And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.<\/span><\/span> 4 <\/sup>I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.<\/span><\/span> 5 <\/sup>And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Addresses the Areopagus<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

22 <\/sup>So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: \u201cMen of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious.<\/span> 23 <\/sup>For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: \u2018To the unknown god.\u2019 What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.<\/span> 24 <\/sup>The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man,<\/span> 25 <\/sup>nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.<\/span> 26 <\/sup>And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,<\/span> 27 <\/sup>that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,<\/span> 28 <\/sup>for<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

29 <\/sup>Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man.<\/span> 30 <\/sup>The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,<\/span> 31 <\/sup>because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

32 <\/sup>Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked.
