Proverbs 18:20-24  (New King James Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\n

20 <\/sup>A man\u2019s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;<\/span>
\nFrom<\/i> the produce of his lips he shall be filled.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

21 <\/sup>Death and life are<\/i> in the power of the tongue,<\/span>
\nAnd those who love it will eat its fruit.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Untamable Tongue<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

3 <\/span>My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. <\/span>2 <\/sup>For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is<\/i> a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. <\/span>3 <\/sup>Indeed, we put bits in horses\u2019 mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. <\/span>4 <\/sup>Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. <\/span>5 <\/sup>Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.<\/span><\/p>\n

See how great a forest a little fire kindles! <\/span>6 <\/sup>And the tongue is<\/i> a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. <\/span>7 <\/sup>For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. <\/span>8 <\/sup>But no man can tame the tongue. It is<\/i> an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. <\/span>9 <\/sup>With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. <\/span>10 <\/sup>Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. <\/span>11 <\/sup>Does a spring send forth fresh water<\/i> and bitter from the same opening? <\/span>12 <\/sup>Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heavenly Versus Demonic Wisdom<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

13 <\/sup>Who is<\/i> wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that<\/i> his works are done<\/i> in the meekness of wisdom. <\/span>14 <\/sup>But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.<\/span><\/p>\n
