The Call of Abram<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

12 <\/span>Now the Lord<\/span> said to Abram, \u201cGo from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.<\/span> 2 <\/sup>And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.<\/span> 3 <\/sup>I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paying Taxes to Caesar<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

15 <\/sup>Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words.<\/span> 16 <\/sup>And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, \u201cTeacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.<\/span> 17 <\/sup>Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?\u201d<\/span> 18 <\/sup>But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, \u201cWhy put me to the test, you hypocrites?<\/span><\/span> 19 <\/sup>Show me the coin for the tax.\u201d<\/span> And they brought him a denarius.<\/span> 20 <\/sup>And Jesus said to them, \u201cWhose likeness and inscription is this?\u201d<\/span><\/span> 21 <\/sup>They said, \u201cCaesar’s.\u201d Then he said to them, \u201cTherefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.\u201d<\/span><\/span> 22 <\/sup>When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
