148 <\/span>Praise the Lord<\/span>!<\/span><\/span>
\nPraise the Lord<\/span> from the heavens;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>praise him in the heights!<\/span><\/span>
\n2 <\/sup>Praise him, all his angels;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>praise him, all his hosts!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

3 <\/sup>Praise him, sun and moon,<\/span>

Jesus Presented at the Temple<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

22 <\/sup>And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord<\/span>23 <\/sup>(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, \u201cEvery male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord\u201d)<\/span> 24 <\/sup>and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, \u201ca pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.\u201d<\/span> 25 <\/sup>Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.<\/span> 26 <\/sup>And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.<\/span> 27 <\/sup>And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law,<\/span> 28 <\/sup>he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,<\/span><\/p>\n

29 <\/sup>\u201cLord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>according to your word;<\/span><\/span>
\n30 <\/sup>for my eyes have seen your salvation<\/span>
\n31 <\/sup>    <\/span>that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,<\/span><\/span>
\n32 <\/sup>a light for revelation to the Gentiles,<\/span>

33 <\/sup>And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.<\/span>34 <\/sup>And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, \u201cBehold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed<\/span> 35 <\/sup>(and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

36 <\/sup>And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin,<\/span> 37 <\/sup>and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day.<\/span> 38 <\/sup>And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Return to Nazareth<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

39 <\/sup>And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.<\/span> 40 <\/sup>And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.<\/span><\/p>\n
