Luke 2:9-16  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

9 <\/sup>And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.<\/span> 10 <\/sup>And the angel said to them, \u201cFear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.<\/span> 11 <\/sup>For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.<\/span> 12 <\/sup>And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.\u201d<\/span> 13 <\/sup>And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 <\/sup>When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, \u201cLet us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.\u201d<\/span> 16 <\/sup>And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christ’s Example of Humility<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/span>So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,<\/span> 2 <\/sup>complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.<\/span> 3 <\/sup>Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.<\/span> 4 <\/sup>Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.<\/span> 5 <\/sup>Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,<\/span> 6 <\/sup>who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,<\/span> 7 <\/sup>but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.<\/span> 8 <\/sup>And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.<\/span> 9 <\/sup>Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,<\/span> 10 <\/sup>so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,<\/span> 11 <\/sup>and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
