Isaiah 40:21-31  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\n

21 <\/sup>Do you not know? Do you not hear?<\/span>
\n    <\/span>Has it not been told you from the beginning?<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?<\/span><\/span>
\n22 <\/sup>It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;<\/span><\/span>
\nwho stretches out the heavens like a curtain,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;<\/span><\/span>
\n23 <\/sup>who brings princes to nothing,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

24 <\/sup>Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth,<\/span><\/span>
\nwhen he blows on them, and they wither,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the tempest carries them off like stubble.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

25 <\/sup>To whom then will you compare me,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>that I should be like him? says the Holy One.<\/span><\/span>
\n26 <\/sup>Lift up your eyes on high and see:<\/span>
\n    <\/span>who created these?<\/span><\/span>
\nHe who brings out their host by number,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>calling them all by name;<\/span><\/span>
\nby the greatness of his might<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and because he is strong in power,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>not one is missing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

27 <\/sup>Why do you say, O Jacob,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and speak, O Israel,<\/span><\/span>
\n\u201cMy way is hidden from the Lord<\/span>,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and my right is disregarded by my God\u201d?<\/span><\/span>
\n28 <\/sup>Have you not known? Have you not heard?<\/span>
\nThe Lord<\/span> is the everlasting God,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>the Creator of the ends of the earth.<\/span><\/span>
\nHe does not faint or grow weary;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>his understanding is unsearchable.<\/span><\/span>
\n29 <\/sup>He gives power to the faint,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and to him who has no might he increases strength.<\/span><\/span>
\n30 <\/sup>Even youths shall faint and be weary,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and young men shall fall exhausted;<\/span><\/span>
\n31 <\/sup>but they who wait for the Lord<\/span> shall renew their strength;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>they shall mount up with wings like eagles;<\/span><\/span>
\nthey shall run and not be weary;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>they shall walk and not faint.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Righteous Reign of the Branch<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n
\n

11 <\/span>There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.<\/span><\/span>
\n2 <\/sup>And the Spirit of the Lord<\/span> shall rest upon him,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>the Spirit of counsel and might,<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>
\n3 <\/sup>And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord<\/span>.<\/span>
\nHe shall not judge by what his eyes see,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>or decide disputes by what his ears hear,<\/span><\/span>
\n4 <\/sup>but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;<\/span><\/span>
\nand he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.<\/span><\/span>
\n5 <\/sup>Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and faithfulness the belt of his loins.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

6 <\/sup>The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,<\/span><\/span>
\nand the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and a little child shall lead them.<\/span><\/span>
\n7 <\/sup>The cow and the bear shall graze;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>their young shall lie down together;<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.<\/span><\/span>
\n8 <\/sup>The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den.<\/span><\/span>
\n9 <\/sup>They shall not hurt or destroy<\/span>
\n    <\/span>in all my holy mountain;<\/span><\/span>
\nfor the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord<\/span><\/span>
\n    <\/span>as the waters cover the sea.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
