Deuteronomy 7:6-11  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

6 <\/sup>\u201cFor you are a people holy to the Lord<\/span> your God. The Lord<\/span> your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.<\/span> 7 <\/sup>It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord<\/span> set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples,<\/span> 8 <\/sup>but it is because the Lord<\/span> loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord<\/span> has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.<\/span>9 <\/sup>Know therefore that the Lord<\/span> your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,<\/span> 10 <\/sup>and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. Faith Without Works Is Dead<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

14 <\/sup>What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?<\/span> 15 <\/sup>If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,<\/span> 16 <\/sup>and one of you says to them, \u201cGo in peace, be warmed and filled,\u201d without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?<\/span> 17 <\/sup>So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 <\/sup>But someone will say, \u201cYou have faith and I have works.\u201d Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.<\/span> 19 <\/sup>You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe\u2014and shudder!<\/span> 20 <\/sup>Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?<\/span> 21 <\/sup>Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?<\/span> 22 <\/sup>You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;<\/span> 23 <\/sup>and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, \u201cAbraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness\u201d\u2014and he was called a friend of God.<\/span> 24 <\/sup>You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.<\/span> 25 <\/sup>And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?<\/span> 26 <\/sup>For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
