1 Corinthians 1:20-25  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

20 <\/sup>Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?<\/span>21 <\/sup>For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.<\/span> 22 <\/sup>For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom,<\/span>23 <\/sup>but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,<\/span> 24 <\/sup>but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christthe power of God and the wisdom of God.<\/span> 25 <\/sup>For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications for Deacons<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

8 <\/sup>Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain.<\/span> 9 <\/sup>They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.<\/span> 10 <\/sup>And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless.<\/span> 11 <\/sup>Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things.<\/span> 12 <\/sup>Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.<\/span>13 <\/sup>For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
