1 Corinthians 2:1-8  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Proclaiming Christ Crucified<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/span>And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to youthe testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.<\/span> 2 <\/sup>For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.<\/span> 3 <\/sup>And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling,<\/span> 4 <\/sup>and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,<\/span> 5 <\/sup>so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisdom from the Spirit<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

6 <\/sup>Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away.<\/span> 7 <\/sup>But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.<\/span> 8 <\/sup>None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divisions in the Church<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

3 <\/span>But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but aspeople of the flesh, as infants in Christ.<\/span> 2 <\/sup>I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready,<\/span>3 <\/sup>for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?<\/span>4 <\/sup>For when one says, \u201cI follow Paul,\u201d and another, \u201cI follow Apollos,\u201d are you not being merely human?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 <\/sup>What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.<\/span> 6 <\/sup>I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.<\/span> 7 <\/sup>So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.<\/span> 8 <\/sup>He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.<\/span> 9 <\/sup>For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
