Deuteronomy 7:6-11  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

6 <\/sup>\u201cFor you are a people holy to the Lord<\/span> your God. The Lord <\/span>your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.<\/span> 7 <\/sup>It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord<\/span> set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples,<\/span> 8 <\/sup>but it is because the Lord<\/span> loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord<\/span> has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.<\/span> 9 <\/sup>Know therefore that the Lord<\/span> your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,<\/span> 10 <\/sup>and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face.<\/span> 11 <\/sup>You shall therefore be careful to do the commandment and the statutes and the rules that I command you today.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/span>\u201cTo the angel of the church in Ephesus write: \u2018The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/sup>\u201c\u2018I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false.<\/span><\/span> 3 <\/sup>I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary.<\/span><\/span> 4 <\/sup>But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.<\/span><\/span> 5 <\/sup>Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.<\/span><\/span> 6 <\/sup>Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.<\/span><\/span> 7 <\/sup>He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
