Job 38:1-18  (English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The <\/span>Lord<\/span><\/span> Answers Job<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

38 <\/span>Then the Lord<\/span> answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 <\/span><\/sup>\u201cWho is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?<\/span>
\n3 <\/sup><\/span>Dress for action like a man;<\/span>
\n    <\/span>I will question you, and you make it known to me.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

4 <\/span><\/sup>\u201cWhere were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?<\/span>
\n    <\/span>Tell me, if you have understanding.<\/span><\/span>
\n5 <\/span><\/sup>Who determined its measurements\u2014surely you know!<\/span>
\n    <\/span>Or who stretched the line upon it?<\/span><\/span>
\n6 <\/span><\/sup>On what were its bases sunk,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>or who laid its cornerstone,<\/span><\/span>
\n7 <\/span><\/sup>when the morning stars sang together<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and all the sons of God shouted for joy?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

8 <\/span><\/sup>\u201cOr who shut in the sea with doors<\/span>
\n    <\/span>when it burst out from the womb,<\/span><\/span>
\n9 <\/span><\/sup>when I made clouds its garment<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and thick darkness its swaddling band,<\/span><\/span>
\n10 <\/span><\/sup>and prescribed limits for it<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and set bars and doors,<\/span><\/span>
\n11 <\/span><\/sup>and said, \u2018Thus far shall you come, and no farther,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and here shall your proud waves be stayed\u2019?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

12 <\/span><\/sup>\u201cHave you commanded the morning since your days began,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and caused the dawn to know its place,<\/span><\/span>
\n13 <\/span><\/sup>that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and the wicked be shaken out of it?<\/span><\/span>
\n14 <\/span><\/sup>It is changed like clay under the seal,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and its features stand out like a garment.<\/span><\/span>
\n15 <\/span><\/sup>From the wicked their light is withheld,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>and their uplifted arm is broken.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

16 <\/span><\/sup>\u201cHave you entered into the springs of the sea,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>or walked in the recesses of the deep?<\/span><\/span>
\n17 <\/span><\/sup>Have the gates of death been revealed to you,<\/span>
\n    <\/span>or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?<\/span><\/span>
\n18 <\/span><\/sup>Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?<\/span>
\n    <\/span>Declare, if you know all this.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus Walks on the Water<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

22 <\/sup><\/span>Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.<\/span> 23 <\/span><\/sup>And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,<\/span> 24 <\/span><\/sup>but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.<\/span> 25 <\/span><\/sup>And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.<\/span> 26 <\/span><\/sup>But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, \u201cIt is a ghost!\u201d and they cried out in fear.<\/span> 27 <\/span><\/sup>But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, \u201cTake heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

28 <\/span><\/sup>And Peter answered him, \u201cLord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.\u201d<\/span> 29 <\/span><\/sup>He said, \u201cCome.\u201d<\/span> So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.<\/span> 30 <\/span><\/sup>But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, \u201cLord, save me.\u201d<\/span> 31 <\/span><\/sup>Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, \u201cO you of little faith, why did you doubt?\u201d<\/span><\/span> 32 <\/span><\/sup>And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.<\/span> 33 <\/span><\/sup>And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, \u201cTruly you are the Son of God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
