- If we are looking for a principle that can discern between true believers and false believers that can be universally applied, we will come up short because these two stories oppose the idea that there is a universal principle to determine faithfulness.
- The only conclusion that can be drawn from these contrasting stories is that they describe different situations, and that Jesus alone is able to determine true faithfulness.
- The fact of God’s grace and forgiveness does not negate the reality of hell.
- Hell is an eternal reality, an ever-present option, and a very real possibility.
