Listen here: “The Right Story“
James 3:1-12; Mark 8:27-38
- This week the Lectionary provides a caution aimed at new believers learning to speak the gospel.
- New believers are often the most adamant about wanting to tell others about salvation in Jesus Christ.
- Because the faith is new to them, and because they have genuinely discovered its truth and it has changed their lives, they are eager to share their story with other unbelievers.
- It’s all quite natural, and it’s a good thing, to a certain extent.
- But there is a caveat, a caution: “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness” (v. 3).
- (This is just a teaser. If you want to know more, listen to the sermon.)
