Sermon 3/31/2024: “Beyond Resurrection”

Listen Here: “Beyond Resurrection

Isaiah 25:6-9; Acts 10:34-43

  • We are separated from the actual events of the Bible by thousands of years. Our connection to the actual events of the Bible is literary.
    • We read about those events. Our memories are not imaginary, but neither are they experiential. They are historical memories.
    • Our memories of those events are filtered by time, and by thousands of years of retelling and analysis.
  • Do we today have any actual experience of the biblical stories?
  • The connection between all Christians is the power and presence of the Holy Spirit who has been dispatched to bring about the resurrection of all humanity one day.
  • In the meantime, the Holy Spirit brings about the regeneration of individuals on earth as the first step toward the final resurrection.
  • The church on earth is, then, the stepping stone to heaven. Christians are saved into the church, the body of Christ on earth, as a preliminary to our final union with Christ on earth as it is in heaven.
