Listen here: “Concordat“
Genesis 9:8-17; 1 Peter 3:18-22
- A covenant is like a peace treaty following a war, where the victor sets the terms of the agreement and the vanquished agrees to the terms, or the war continues.
- While is seems like a one-sided agreement, it’s not. If the loser doesn’t agree or violates the terms, the agreement becomes void, and the war continues.
- Peace requires both sides to honor the agreement.
- The important thing about God’s covenant with Noah is that it binds all human beings. It was not just between God and Noah’s family, but was between God and all life on earth. That’s important because it means that God’s covenant is universal; everyone and every thing is involved.
