Listen here:”Apocalypse: At Last“
Isaiah 61:10-62:3; Galatians 4:4-7
- When we see God as He actually is, we also see the world for what it actually is. And the contrast is stark, shocking because of the radical difference between what God wants for us, and what we have made of the world.
- What God makes of the world is eternal, what we have made of it is transitory.
- The reason that we think of apocalypse as violent and destructive is because of what we have made of the world in our effort to remove God from the world.
- Joy bursts out in evangelism as Isaiah praises God, as Isaiah tells us what God will do.
- And for us, what God has done through the birth of Christ on earth as an infant, who will grow into a man, is central. It is the most important thing in the world.
- Jesus Christ is that special Man whom we can imitate. We make Christ real in the world by imitation. We imitate His righteousness, His character qualities.
- His righteousness is real, ours is an imitation. But by imitating the real righteousness of Jesus Christ we make His righteousness real in our lives, in our world.
