Sermon 1/7/2024: “Changed”

Mark 1:4-11; Acts 19:1-7

If I can use a computer analogy: Jesus came to refurbish an existing computer, to replace parts that were still functioning with improved parts that were more efficient and more powerful, and to provide an improved operating system. The refurbished product would, then, be better than the old one, even when the old one was still operating.

  • God’s forgiveness is like a class action suit, where a manufacturer is sued for damages caused by their product.
    • This analogy is not exactly right because in such a case the manufacturer is being sued for a defective product. But God has not provided a defective product.
    • The defectiveness of the product is caused by Satan, not God. So we could say that the class action suit is against Satan.
    • But the point is that the class action suit only involves people who sign on as litigants. If someone doesn’t know about the class action suit, the result of the case will not involve them,
