Genesis 28:10-19; Matthew 13:24-30; Matthew 13:36-43
Note two things: 1) God was planning for a very large population on the earth; 2) that large population would receive God’s blessing through what God was doing with Abraham, Isaac, and now Jacob—who would become Israel.
- What was the condition of the people that Jesus found? Jesus did not find a united people. He did not find faithful Temple priests, or many faithful Israelites. The temple establishment had grown corrupt.
- Did He find a people ready for harvest? He told the parable of the weeds to describe the people He found, the culture He found.
