Listen here: “Offensive Maneuvers: Exposed”
1 Samuel 16:1-13; Ephesians 5:8-14
- Long before any king was appointed in ancient Israel, Israel had repeatedly failed to live in obedience to the law. The culmination of their failure is found in the book of Judges.
- Saul was the choice of the people, not of Samuel or of God. Saul was a Benjaminite, the worst tribe of Israel.
- Saul then proved to be faithless. He thought he was honoring God, but was only following his own advice
- Christ reveals the truth of the OT, the failure of Israel to be faithful. God sent Jesus to correct that error, and Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to be our personal companion.
