Ezekiel 18:25-32; Matthew 21:23-32
- The Bible doesn’t use the word fair. It uses just.
- In both Hebrew(צָדַק) and Greek (δικαιοσύνη) the word can be translated as either justice or righteousness. If you want justice, seek righteousness.
- Ezekiel, who was writing during the Babylonian captivity, was defending the Lord against the accusation that God is not just.
Israel’s failure, and Jonah’s, was to discount the reality and value of repentance. If repentance is real, people can change. It repentance is not real, people don’t change.
