Listen Here: “The Mirth of Christ: Expectation“
Isaiah 11:1-10; Romans 15:4-9, 12-13
Isaiah was talking about the character of the savior. His character is more important than His lineage, His family. Why? Because His character, the character of the Savior, of Jesus, would be the new norm for humanity. The new humanity in Christ, homocristos, is patterned after the character of Jesus, the character of God. In Christ God is manifest in the world, first through Jesus, then through those who imitate Jesus. Christians would be — and are now — called to emulate the character of Jesus Christ, to reproduce the fruits of the Spirit in their own lives. I Cor. 11:1 “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”
